Ingredient Details

Water (Aqua)

Base of the formula.

Solvent that dissolves other ingredients.

Provides consistency and spreads the product.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

A cleansing and foaming agent (surfactant).

Removes dirt, oil, and buildup from hair.

Can be drying for sensitive scalps if used in high amounts.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine

Mild, coconut-derived surfactant.

Enhances foaming and reduces harshness of SLS.

Helps condition hair and skin while cleansing.

Sodium Chloride (Salt)

Used as a thickener to adjust shampoo viscosity.

Helps balance formula consistency.

Too much can feel drying, but in small amounts it stabilizes the product.

Glycol Distearate

Adds pearly/creamy appearance to shampoo.

Acts as an emollient, giving hair a softer feel.

Helps with smooth application.

Hydrolyzed Protein (often Hydrolyzed Keratin or Collagen Protein)

Strengthens hair by bonding to the hair shaft.

Reduces breakage and split ends.

Helps increase shine and thickness over time.

Fragrance (Parfum)

Provides a fresh, clean scent.

Can be synthetic or natural.

Some people with sensitive skin may react to fragrance.

Citric Acid

Adjusts pH to a hair-friendly level (slightly acidic).

Helps smooth hair cuticle, enhancing shine.

Preserves product stability.

Methylchloroisothiazolinone & Methylisothiazolinone (Preservatives)

Prevent bacterial and fungal growth in shampoo.

Extend shelf life.

Effective in small doses, but can be irritating for sensitive skin with overuse (why newer formulas sometimes replace them).
